In YORÙBÁ, Alako means one who is bold and unafraid to make a statement.
Inspired by the vibrant spirit of West Africa, Alako was made for the global woman radiating confidence and individuality.

Made in Africa
Adura Ogunleye’s earliest fashion memories were shaped by the traditional garments her mother wore, known for their rich color, impeccable detail, and a sense of cultural pride. When envisioning Alako, she aimed to create pieces that celebrate her Nigerian heritage and highlight the beauty of West African craftsmanship.
For this reason, we are committed to producing on African soil, investing in the growth of Africa’s fashion industry, and supporting the skilled artisans who have upheld it for generations.
PRODUCTION PROCESS
'Made in Africa' presents many opportunities but also poses significant challenges as we honor a production culture that predates the fast-paced demands of modern fashion.
We rely on the deep knowledge and time-honored traditions of our makers to inform our design process, ensuring that West African heritage is preserved in every piece we create. As part of this commitment, all fabrics and prints used in our garments are custom-designed in-house.

SUSTAINABILITY
We are committed to ethical and sustainable practices, taking a mindful approach to fabric and garment production. We produce in limited quantities to minimize waste.
Our fabric production exclusively uses eco-friendly dyes, such as natural indigo, and we print on premium cotton, primarily sourced from Africa. Additionally, our packaging is made in the USA from 100% FSC-certified recycled materials and is fully compostable, breaking down completely within 180 days.
Our Values
Culture
Our creative journey begins with the rich tapestry of West Africa, a continual source of inspiration. By honoring our heritage and exploring diverse cultures, we craft pieces that blend artistry and meaningful expression.
Color
From the golden flesh of street-side mangoes to the emboldened beauty of a woman in traditional attire, we celebrate the world's vibrant palette as a canvas for our designs. In vivid color, we create pieces that empower you to roam fully expressed in style and spirit.
Craftsmanship
‘Made in Africa’ is our commitment to honoring our rich heritage and the talent of our craftsmen with every piece. Whether it’s the luxury of time or the sophistication of artisanal techniques, quality craftsmanship is the heart of what we do.

“At the heart of Alako is the desire to reshape the narrative around 'Made in Africa' products and celebrate the thoughtful makers who pour their passion into creating timeless pieces.”

Note From our Founder
"Alako began with a dream of celebrating the beauty of the West African fabrics I cherished growing up Nigerian. Textiles rich in culture and color that personify the grand spirit of the diaspora's will to persevere with style and grace.
At the heart of Alako is my desire to reshape the narrative around 'Made in Africa' products and celebrate the thoughtful makers who pour their passion into creating timeless pieces. I remain committed to bringing greater diversity to fashion by honoring their artistry.
Woven into the threads of our garments are stories meant to uplift, inspire, and celebrate the woman you are today and the woman you are becoming. May your days be bright, your nights filled with laughter, and your inner radiance illuminate your path."
